POKOTABI / Suzuhiro
鈴ひろ
Close to Nerima Station, Japanese restaurant Suzuhiro serves crisp, light aji fry, finely sliced sashimi, and lunchtime set meals with dashi-rich soups and chawanmushi, alongside seasonal evening omakase courses.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
With light, tender flesh and heads and bones fried crisp and fragrant, deep-fried horse mackerel (aji fry) is one of the standout dishes that visitors frequently mention at Suzuhiro. From precision knife work in the sashimi to evenly grilled Saikyo-yaki, the kitchen consistently focuses on bringing out the natural character of fresh seafood.
For daytime dining, the lunch sets offer a reliable choice of sashimi, grilled fish, simmered fish, or deep-fried seafood. Every set meal arrives with savory, dashi-rich steamed egg custard (chawanmushi) and a drink, backed by refillable rice and fish-bone soup (ara-jiru). Packed with deep seafood umami, the ara-jiru can also be swapped for pork miso soup (tonjiru) upon request.
In the evening, multi-course omakase dining takes center stage with seasonal specialties, accompanied by seasonal hot pots and an assortment of small plates. The drinks list matches the kitchen's breadth, offering authentic regional shochu, Japanese wines, homemade plum wine, and a selection of teas.
The dining room remains intimate, configured with counter seating and a single table, allowing the owner's attention to reach every corner. For an evening spent savoring a meal in quiet surroundings, booking a dinner reservation in advance is recommended.
